Cate Sword helps people understand what is in front of them and feel more prepared for what comes next. Her work spans design software training, consulting for manufacturers, and speaking about change and possibility.
Cate earned her interior design degree from Michigan State University in 1983. After working as an interior designer and learning AutoCAD, she started her own contract design business in 1985.
In 1989, she joined CAP as a trainer and support specialist. That experience began a career helping designers make better use of the software they work with every day.
Her perspective reaches beyond individual tools. She understands the connection between the person using the software, the products they are specifying, and the teams developing those tools. Today, she works with designers, dealers, manufacturers, and software developers to make that connection clearer.
Practical software training helps design teams understand their tools. Manufacturer consulting brings the designer’s perspective into extension development, testing, and education.
Through speaking and Infinite Possibilities training, Cate opens up conversations about change, everyday choices, and what may come next.
After the end of a long marriage, Cate found herself starting again. The way forward was not a single dramatic moment. It was a series of everyday choices, small shifts, and opportunities to look at things differently.
That experience is the foundation of Small Shifts, Big Changes: Tips and Tricks to Level Up Your Life. It is a personal story with ideas an audience can consider in the context of their own lives.
